What is Reiki?

The word reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". However, Reiki has nothing to do with religon. It is a universal energy which, when directly correctly it provides balance to your everyday life to enable you to stay in control or to help you regain control of your own destiny.

what is reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique used for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If someones "life force energy" is low, then they are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if their energy is high, they are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki practiioners have been employed in some hospitals to aid the healing process of patients and research has found that reiki has been an effective complimentary therapy to conventional medicine in getting a patients mind and body into a more effective working order to cope with the stress and pressures faced with any form of illness. Reiki is also good for those in a 'Carers' position as they too will also go through the anxiety, stresses and physical fatigue that the person they are looking after go through, but they too must look after their own energies in order to look after others effectively and not become ill themselves.
